Elcite is one of the crowning jewels of my alloy inventions! Not only does it feature a beautiful classic golden brown bronze color, its mechanical properties are extremely impressive!
Elcite is one alloy that came to me in a vision of sorts, I saw the formula and knew I had to try it.
Elcite is a copper, nickel, silicon, iron, manganese, cobalt, zirconium and phosphorus mixture. It's some serious stuff!
I had it tested at a shooting range once next to a block of aluminum bronze of comparable hardness. Aluminum bronze the standard for hard bronze which is why it was chosen to compare.
The 1/4in thick piece of Elcite shrugged off a 9mm with a small dent. The 1/4in thick aluminum bronze was also dented from the 9mm. When shot with a high caliber rifle, the Elcite tore and ripped, with no cracks. Whereas the aluminum bronze shattered into chunks when hit with the same .30-30 rifle round. There weren’t enough solid pieces of aluminum bronze left to send back to me!!!
This shows that this material is of comparable hardness to aluminum bronze, an industry standard, and much more ductile at the same time. It's truly a remarkable material.
I was able to split wood with an axe made from this alloy. It’s an amazing tool material.
Anyone looking for a material that can stand up to a hell of a beating and still look pretty while doing it, this is the alloy for you.
